Okinawa prefectural museum opens on Sunday?

Yes, the museum is open on Sunday. 9-7:30PM.

Did you enjoy the Ghibli exhibition?

It was fun. I was impressed by the cat bus ✨

Excuse me, is there a parking lot indoor or outdoor?

It’s outdoor but has a roof that extends all the way to the entrance to the gate. It’s not too much to worry about when it rains.

Does anyone use a cafe?

There are people in Korora, but in my memory, the first cafe is renewal, or is leaving. Previously there was an advertisement on the stairs that goes upstairs, pasta menu. Excuse me. Because there is no meal experience at the museum.

Would you like to go see the Gegege life exhibition in the summer?

to go

Excuse me, have you finished shopping in 1 hour?

One hour is not enough! The ancient buildings on the outskirts are very characteristic, it is recommended to be at least 2 hours. The building itself is beautiful for taking pictures.

Remember the Dream Robot Expo held for a limited time in the summer of 2011?

I do not know

The permanent exhibition is cheap and worth it, if you're into history. It tells how Okinawa was from the paleolithic ages until current era. The titles and important information are also provided in English in the explanation of items, though longer and elaborate explanation are only in Japanese. Therefore, if you want to know deeper details, I recommend to ask for audio guide at the counter.

Okinawa Prefectural Museum & Art Gallery *** must visit ***Another place you cannot miss when you visit Okinawa. A half day visit to the museum will allow you to have a quick glimpse into the history and culture of the island. To help you to learn about the exhibit, please remember to get an audio guide from the counter. It will great enhanced your experience. It has different languages English, Japanese, Chinese Mandarin, Korean. Well worth the effort. It has a huge display area, it is advisable to spend at least half a day here. If you wish to visit the art gallery too, then maybe it is good to spend a day here.If you are tired you can always go for a break at the café within the museum. Otherwise there is Mall nearby, walking distance, in which there is a food court where you get some food and drink and rest.#japan #okinawa #naha #okinawaprefecturalmuseum #travellog #review#冲绳 #那霸 #冲绳县立博物馆

Went to see the Ghibli Studio exhibition, Unfortunately there were no photos allowed of the exhibitions due to copyright reasons. In addition it would have been nice to have some English translations of the work, so could only look at the pictures and not ready everything. The exhibition it self was fantastic, and would recommend to anyone.

Stunning design from the outside and when walk into the inner walk, you will see a beautiful traditional Okinawa house before entering the building. This is my favorite design cue of the museum. The history part of the museum is very well presented and quite enjoyable to walk. However, the art part of the museum is although interesting but doesn't feel particularly special. The 'Planned Exhibitions' changes for time to time, so it's hard to review but I'm sure they gotta be something special. The public park behind the museum (Shintoshin park) is also very nice and filled with lots of lively activities, especially in the weekend.

We went to the Ghibli Exhibition. The fee for entry is 1400 Yen. This does not include the rest of the museum. In my opinion, the price is way too high. All you get is what you can see on the attached flyer. Mostly movie posters, some merchandise you can buy in any Ghibli shop and only two interesting things. The creatures from Nausicaä and the cat bus from Totoro. Very rarely there are some scripts or drafts from the Anime here and there. Especially the creatures from Nausicaä are impressive, but I'm not sure if that is worth 1400 Yen.

The museum provides a concise and well organised history of Okinawa and explains the distinct history and identity of the Okinawan people. That said, I would have liked the section on WWII and its immediate aftermath to be a bit better fleshed out. You get the sense that a lot has been left unsaid. The permanent art exhibition and its characterisation of the US and mainland Japanese troops give a hint of what this is, but you'll have to do more digging elsewhere to find the details.

Really like their permanent exhibition - it's a great place to learn about Okinawan history. Probably not very fun for kids though. But, they do have a small activity area where kids can use toys and other interactive tools to learn about Okinawa.

Building is beautiful and have some things on the outside too. If you go with children (or like this stuff) don't forget to collect the stamps. We happened to be there during a Ghibli exposition and it was expensive and crowded, but had some nice stuff about the movies.

When there at 9am and bought the one day pass unfortunately i did not know that there are a number of exhibits that are not open in the morning. Some even open from 2pm, so you might want to consider visiting here in the afternoon if you plan on checking everything. The one day pass cost 1280 yen that comes with a 200 yen coupon you can use from the souvenir shop.Photos not allowed inside the exhibits.

A terrible a complete waste of money. Each section of the museum was split off and monetized. We literally paid $30 for a 10 minute walk in the dinosaur exhibit. Don't waste your time or money with this place. You have to pay for each section of the museum. We did this for the kids and they didn't even enjoy themselves. I would give zero stars if I could.

This review covers both the art gallery and history museum sections.First, the history museum is fantastic. You can get a free audio guide with your entrance fee, at least Japanese, English, Korean, and Mandarin are available with I believe a few other languages. You will see a huge breadth of history from early days and archaeological finds through feudal ages and into the present. Topics cover religious beliefs to trade and growth of Okinawa. Well curated, well organized, and the recommended path provides a great narrative overview. The art gallery was beautiful. With both perpetual and special exhibits, there's a great variety showcasing the history and development of art in Okinawa. The whole museum is clean, well organized, and situated beautifully. It's easy to get to from the Naha light rail as well. Definitely worth a visit, you could easily spend 2 to 4 hours here on a trip.

The entrance fee to the exhibitions were affordable. Very huge compound, easily spend up to 1 day here with interactive museum guides. Traditional music performances 0900hrs and 1400hrs lasting up to 45 mins (but not sure if its everyday, pls do check). Toilets facilities and media library with interactive children section. Child friendly, not crowded. Love it!

Although it is not my first language, I'm writing this in English to recommend the museum to the worldwide visitors. This museum is really a nice place if you want to know history and culture of Okinawa. The visitors circulation is well designed and the audio guide (multilingual support and may be free as I remember) provides detailed explanations about every single display. If you have a plan to visit Okinawa, please don't miss the place.
